The aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola)

The habitat of this small singing bird is extensive: successively sowed peat bogs - wet lands but situated far away from places which are flooded yearly. Due to the uniqueness of such habitats, the Biebrza Swamps have about half of the world’s concentration of this bird. It can be most recognizable by its voice, heard at evenings by males sitting on the tops of swamp plants. The aquatic warbler arrives at the Biebrza river relatively late (in about mid-May - together with the common rosefinch and the golden oriole); yet it rewards us with a long period of its vocal activity, lasting until the end of July.
